Check ICE Detainee Releases

Find a person who may have entered ICE custody after leaving a Yadkin County jail by starting with the county handoff record and the federal detainee locator. ICE operates a civil immigration detention system, and no dedicated ICE facility was identified in Yadkin County. A county entry that says released to ICE describes a transfer, not return to the community. The locator is built for current detention, not historical releases, so a missing result requires agency follow-up and cannot establish release or removal.

ICE Detainee Release Paths

ICE detention is federal civil immigration custody, not a Yadkin County jail. No dedicated ICE detention facility or local agreement was identified in the research sweep. A person can still move from a county jail to ICE case by case. “Released to ICE” means county custody ended and federal custody began.

ICE may later release a person under immigration conditions, transfer the person, or carry out another case action. The Online Detainee Locator is designed to locate current detainees. It is not a historical release ledger, and an absent result does not prove release or removal.

Check ICE Detainee Status

Use the ICE Online Detainee Locator. Search with an A-number and country of birth, or use the biographical option. Match all available identifiers and note when the result was checked.

  1. Confirm the Yadkin release record actually names ICE or an immigration recipient.
  2. Search ODLS with the strongest identifier.
  3. Record the facility or contact route shown.
  4. If no result appears, try verified variants and contact Enforcement and Removal Operations.
  5. Do not label an online absence as release, removal, or return to the community.

The Yadkin County release record route can establish the local handoff, but only ICE can speak for later immigration custody.

ICE Detainee Status Records

ODLS is the first current-location tool. When it fails or a transfer is recent, use the relevant ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations field office or the facility identified by the source record. The research did not verify a Yadkin ICE office, detention address, or local phone, so none should be invented.

ICE Custody in Yadkin Context

An ICE detainer or handoff must be established case by case. The lack of a dedicated county facility does not prove that no Yadkin detainee has ever entered immigration custody. It means system-level tools and the specific jail release record are the defensible sources.

Detainer
An agency request or legal mechanism tied to another custody interest.
Handoff
The point when one custodian releases a person to another.
ODLS
A locator for current ICE detainees, not a release archive.
No result
An inconclusive search outcome that requires follow-up.

County release, ICE release, and immigration case outcome are separate claims. State each one only when its own custodian or record supports it.

Yadkin ICE Search Limits

Data delay, spelling, birth information, and system coverage can affect ODLS results. A person may also be outside the locator's display rules. Contact the source agency rather than drawing a release conclusion from silence.

Yadkin's county-jail construction and former state-prison closure are not ICE history. The distinctive local fact is that no dedicated ICE facility was identified and every claimed handoff needs case-specific proof.

NC SAVAN may show the county transfer event, but registration may need to change after a transfer. SAVAN does not replace ICE confirmation.

Verify a Yadkin ICE Transfer

Ask the detention center for the actual release time, release category, and receiving agency. Request the existing booking/release or custody-history record for durable proof. A notation that says ICE should be quoted as a transfer rather than shortened to “released.”

Then search ODLS and contact the relevant ERO office if needed. If an attorney is involved, counsel may have case-specific status that is not public online. Keep the county timestamp separate from any later ICE action.

A court dismissal or bond order in a local case does not defeat a separate immigration basis for custody. Conversely, an immigration release does not resolve a state criminal case. Check each system.

ICE Release Record Chain

A careful record chain names the source for every stage: the Yadkin jail for county departure, ICE for immigration detention, and the appropriate court for judicial action. Dates may differ because they record different events.

For a no-result search, document the A-number or biographical criteria used, the check time, and the follow-up contact. Do not publish sensitive identifiers. Recheck after a recent handoff because intake can lag.

Use the BOP locator only when BOP custody is independently supported. ICE and BOP are distinct federal systems, and USMS handles a different role.

Match ICE Detainee Identity

An A-number is stronger than a broad biographical search. Pair it with country of birth as the locator requires. When searching by name, use the verified spelling and birth information. Do not guess at nationality, aliases, or date of birth to force a result.

A shared name can produce a serious mismatch. Compare the current facility, prior county record, attorney information, and any lawful identifiers before concluding the result belongs to the intended person. Keep the A-number out of public posts or messages when disclosure is not needed.

If ODLS returns no result, document the criteria and time. A recent county handoff may not yet be visible. A person can also fall outside the locator's display or data coverage. ERO or the identified facility is the next source, not a commercial inmate directory.

ICE and Court Release Differences

A Yadkin bond order, dismissal, or sentence end controls the local criminal matter. It does not by itself decide immigration custody. In the other direction, release from ICE does not erase or dispose of a Yadkin court case. Each legal system must be reported on its own terms.

The Yadkin Sheriff establishes whether the jail delivered the person to another agency. Ask for the release code definition and recipient when the entry is unclear. SAVAN can add a transfer event, but processing time means its alert may differ from the physical departure timestamp.

Federal immigration proceedings may involve records outside the county court system. Use qualified counsel or the responsible federal agency for case-specific legal interpretation. Public locator data is status information, not legal advice or a full case file.

After an ICE Custody Release

An ICE release can include conditions, reporting, or another federal process. The public locator may stop showing the person without explaining that later status. That is another reason absence is not a historical discharge record.

Ask the responsible source for the exact release wording and date. If a family or attorney needs durable confirmation, preserve the relevant agency notice or request an existing public record through the appropriate federal channel.

Do not merge removal, transfer, release under conditions, and disappearance from ODLS. They describe different outcomes. State only what the source record supports and update the account when a newer agency record becomes available.
